概要 / OUTLINE

目的 / GOAL OF THE GROUP

外国から来られた方々に、「日本に来てよかった。飯塚に住んでよかった。」と思ってほしいと心から願うボランティアグループです。そして、この福岡県飯塚市で日本語講座と通して外国籍の方たちと交流し、お互いを理解し合い、仲良く協力し合って生活することを目的としております。現在、ボランティアグループ「飯塚友情ネットワーク」と協力し合って活動を行っております。

We are a volunteer group whose heartfelt wish it is that all foreigners living here feel they made the right decision to come toJapan and live in Iizuka. It is also our goal here in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, that through this Japanese language class we will be able to interact with people of different nationalities, strive for mutual understanding and live together harmoniously. At present, we are working in cooperation with the volunteer group “Iizuka Friendship Network.”

また、ボランティアグループ「ユリシス」の中高生たちが授業に参加されている受講者の子供達のお世話をしています。

High school and junior high school students, the Volunteer group "Ulysses" are taking care of children of students at the class time.

活動内容 / ACTIVITIES

①日本語教室 / Japanese Language Instruction

第１、第3木曜日の19時～20時半、場所は飯塚市役所です。クラスは入門・初級（文法）・中級（文法）3クラスで、ボランティアスタッフが日本語を教えています。学習者には留学生、留学生の配偶者、研修生、エンジニア、日本人を配偶者に持つ外国人、英語教師（ALT）等です。国別では中国、インドネシア、アメリカ、アフガニスタン、フィリピン、ベトナム、ロシア等です。学習者数は約20名です。

This class takes place the first and third Thursday from 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Iizuka city hall. A volunteer staff teaches three classes of Japanese: a introduction Classa , a beginner’s class (grammar) and an intermediate-level class (grammar, listening exercises, etc.) Among our students there are international students and their spouses, company trainees, engineers, foreigners with Japanese spouses, and English teachers (ALT’s). The majority of our students are from China, but we also have students from Indonesia, USA, ,Afghanistan, Philippines, Vietnam, Russia　and etc. In the current year 2019 there are about twenty students.

②生活等の援助 / Support in Daily Living

活動を始めた頃は、何をすればよいのか、全く手探りという状況でした。そこで、留学生やその家族にどんな生活の援助が必要なのかを調べ、国別に担当ボランティアスタッフを決め、連絡を取り合い必要な援助を行ってきました。例えば、病院への同行、買い物、引越しの手伝い、小学校入学や幼稚園入園の手続き等です。現在は担当は決めず、ボランティアスタッフが自主的に必要な援助を行っています。

When we first began our volunteer program, we struggled with the question of what sorts of activities we should offer. After looking into what kind of support in daily living was needed by international students and their families, we assigned a staff member to each of the nationalities represented and coordinated in such a way as to provide that support. For instance, we would accompany people to the hospital, assist in shopping and relocation, and fill out paperwork for admission to elementary schools and kindergartens. These days, staff members are not assigned to a particular nationality; instead, individual staff members voluntarily assist anyone in need.

活動開始のきっかけ / HOW WE GOT STARTED

福岡県飯塚市に九州工業大学情報工学部が設立され、留学生やその家族が滞在するようになりまた。当時飯塚市には日本に来られた方々に今日すぐに必要な日本語を無料で教えるところはありませんでした。そこで、ボランティアグループ「飯塚友情ネットワーク」と協力して日本語を教えるボランティアグループを発足しました。そして、飯塚コミュニティセンターの１室を無料でお借りすることができ、日本語講座を立ち上げました。
当初は、留学生とその配偶者が主な学習者でしたが、現在では留学生だけでなく、色々な目的で飯市やその周辺に滞在している外国籍の方々が、この講座を受講しています。

With the establishment of the Information Systems Department at K.I.T. Universityin IizukaCity, FukuokaPrefecture, international students and their families came to reside here. At the time, there was nowhere in Iizuka that was providing free Japanese language instruction to foreigners who had come to Japan.That was when we arranged with the “Iizuka Friendship Network” to set up a volunteer group that would teach Japanese. TheIizuka Community Centerlet us use a room free of charge where we started the Japanese Language Class.
